"What Survives" at Fish Publishing
My drabble "What Survives" made the Short List in the Fish Publishing Microfiction Showcase competition. Normally I wouldn't publicly announce just being shortlisted, but it happens that they post the full text of the shortlisted drabbles as well as of the winners.  So it's a kind of publication.  You can read the drabble at the link provided.

In related news, Earlyworks Press tells me that their Sixty Word Saga winners will appear in their next Anthology, so my drabble "Among Strangers" will be there. They've also invited me to submit some other drabbles for the Anthology.

Those drabble were great and I did enjoy yours. The irony of that still kicks.

Great about that other drabble, "Among Strangers" Maybe you'll have some others in the pipeline for that.

So nice being a published author..eh?

Thanks, Rachel. Yes, it's nice.

Congratulations on both counts, Ken! Now who do I need to have whacked to make sure you're in that 2009 Anthology for Fish Publishing? ;-D

LOL! I don't think it works that way.

It turns out that the second half were mis-labeled (I've corrected my post, now that they've corrected theirs). It's actually the shortlisted stories, not "runners up." Which is still cool; I'm glad to have my stuff in as many places as I can.

Well, drat! Shortlisted isn't bad, but still, the offer's there should you need it. You know what an intimidating, fearsome person I am. Assuming I could figure out what to do with a gun, I could impart a little Judge Roy Bean type of justice.

Great news, Ken. You seem to be cornering the market in mini-fiction.

Thanks, Ros.

Turns out that "runner-up" was a misnomer; this is really the short list. Not that I mind.

From what was written before the entries, it should be possible to vote, but I didn't find a way to do that... Hrmpfh. Your drabble was wonderfully Kennish, with that little twist that you have perfected. Not quite what they expected, eh? I read through half of the entries before I'd had my fill (I would not do well as a judge, I need time to digest), and Blown Away by Janine Millicich hit me so hard I was gasping for breath. Oh what a nightmare... Godlet still loves to fall asleep on top of me - just like I loved to sleep on top of dad. He's my paperweight all right...

You're really getting the hang of this now, aren't you?

*hugs*

"Blown Away" blew me away too. I think it was clearly the best one of the bunch. But then, I would, wouldn't I?

*hugs back*
